EVERYONE DESERVES A BEAUTIFUL SMILE!
Welcome to the dental practice of W. Scott Jordan D.D.S. & Kimberly A. DeSena, D.M.D., where "Dentistry is our passion, but people are our focus."
Our practice prides itself on providing a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. When you enter our office, you will notice that everyone is genuinely happy to be here to serve you. We pride ourselves on helping anxious patients feel at home and at ease in our office. We consider every patient a valuable member of our practice family. Utilizing modern technologies and methods to help you with your dental needs, we continue to add that "personal touch" to your care. Rest assured, our doctors and hygienists do not treat more than one patient at a time. You will not find them running from room to room, patient to patient, leaving you feeling as if you, your care, and your time are not important.
The New Patient Experience
As a new adult patient to our practice, you are scheduled an initial appointment with the doctor exclusively. We believe it is vital to take this time to know our patients and perform a thorough evaluation and diagnosis. Our philosophy is: "Never treat a stranger!" The first appointment is critical for us to get to know you as a person, understanding your wishes, wants and needs as a dental patient. The new patient visit is also a time of fact-finding: learning about any problems or concerns you may be experiencing, reviewing your medical and dental history, and completing a thorough visual examination. This includes examining the soft tissues of the mouth (including checking for oral cancer and evaluating the health of your gums and the supporting jaw bones) as well as your teeth. Digital radiographs (x-rays) and digital intra-oral photographs necessary for evaluating the health of your mouth may also be obtained at this visit.
Upon completion of the new patient examination, Dr. Jordan or Dr. DeSena will address any of your major questions or problems. Sometimes, should your needs be more extensive, a no-cost consultation appointment will be scheduled to carefully review with you our findings, recommendations and options for treatment. This allows you to choose the level of care that best suits your goals, circumstances and temperament. Optimal care isn't one-size-fits-all, and technical mastery, while important, is only part of treating the needs of the whole person.
We will address treatment priorities, developing a treatment plan sequence that fits your schedule and budget. We will also discuss the cost of the care recommended, and what insurance benefits your plan may provide.
The Child's New Patient Experience
Children in our practice are always treated with patient, gentle care. We will never use coercion, or force, to "inflict" treatment on our little patients. This only serves to create future fearful adult dental patients! Children who are too anxious and/or frightened for us to gently care for will be referred to a qualified pediatric dentist.
Children are scheduled with the hygienist for their first visit so that a dental cleaning or prophylaxis can be performed. This is a fun visit for your child, where we simply "tickle" his/her teeth. Dr. Jordan or Dr. DeSena will review your child's medical and dental history with you and discuss any findings or suggestions for treatment at this initial visit. Our goal is to help your child grow up cavity-free.
The Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends your child sees a dentist when the first tooth appears, or no later than his or her first birthday. We are pleased to provide this service for your infant (up to 18 months) free of charge in hopes to prevent future dental problems.
